2013-11-06 11Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world. – John Milton

While I dread the cold and darkness of Minnesota winters, I awakened to an early snowfall on November 6th. This would have typically prompted a grumpy remark and perhaps even negatively shaped the rest of my day. However, this day unfolded differently and it evoked a surprising response.

The incredible beauty of the sun glimmering on the snow laden trees against a brilliant blue sky brought me delight as I raced to every window from the comfort of my home to view this magical scene that was created while I slept. I felt the excitement of a little girl experiencing her first snowfall.

I am thankful for this beautiful gift, a birthday gift at that. It is also a reminder that without some of life’s challenges, disappointments or bumps, I would not fully appreciate all the beauty, wonder and blessings I have before me every day. It is how we choose to navigate our journey through the unpredictable ups and downs of life that makes our lives so spectacular.

On this special day, I am also thankful for my loved ones, friends and new acquaintances who help me live my life with purpose, authenticity and celebration.

Sending many good wishes to each of you –

Sometimes life knocks you on your ass… get up, get up, get up!!! Happiness is not the absence of problems, it’s the ability to deal with them.
