Well Being: Optimism (Side A)

Optimism means choosing to see actions and events in the most favorable light or to anticipate the best possible outcomes. Anything can happen “to” us, but only we decide what we will make of whatever happens.

Think of a situation, issue, or event in your life that causes you to have negative feelings. Now think of a situation, issue, or event that makes you feel hopeful and empowered. Could you resolve or transform your negative feelings simply by adopting the same positive outlook that makes you feel hopeful and empowered?

Remember, a positive outlook has long been seen as leading to a longer, healthier life.
